Melanotan-2, explained simply

A synthetic copy of the hormone that switches on tanning. Small human trials found it darkened skin without sun exposure and triggered erections in men with erectile dysfunction. It has never been approved by any regulator.

What is Melanotan-2?

Melanotan-2 is a lab-made copy of alpha-MSH, the hormone your body uses to tell skin cells to make pigment. People inject it to tan without sun exposure. In small human trials it did darken skin, and separately it produced erections in men with erectile dysfunction 14. It has never been approved by any regulator, anywhere, and it is not legal to sell for human use in the United States or the United Kingdom.

How it works in your body

Your skin color comes from a pigment called melanin, produced by cells called melanocytes. When you tan naturally, UV rays tell these cells to make more melanin to protect your skin. 5 Melanotan-2 is like a shortcut—it mimics your body's natural 'make more melanin' signal (called alpha-MSH) but is much more powerful and long-lasting. 31 When you inject MT-2, it activates receptors on your melanocytes, telling them to ramp up melanin production. 1417 You still need a little bit of UV to 'show' the color, but far less than normal tanning. The same receptors that control skin color also happen to affect libido and appetite, which is why MT-2 has those additional effects.

The deeper mechanism, for the curious

Melanotan-2 is a lab-made ring-shaped peptide of seven amino acids (a cyclic heptapeptide) built from alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH), the body's own pigment signal. It switches on melanocortin (a hormone system controlling pigment and appetite) receptors MC1R through MC5R (five docking sites on cells that respond to that signal) without choosing between them 3.

The tanning effect runs through MC1R on melanocytes, the pigment-making cells in skin. Switching that receptor on raises cyclic AMP (a messenger chemical) inside the cell, and that rise is the signal that turns up tyrosinase and the other melanin-making enzymes, increasing eumelanin, the darker pigment. That receptor pathway was mapped in cultured human melanocytes using alpha-MSH itself rather than melanotan-2 5.

The effect on erection is documented directly in people: melanotan-2 produced erections without any sexual stimulation in 17 of 20 men with erectile dysfunction, which points to an action in the brain and spinal cord rather than on the penis itself 4. The work locating which melanocortin receptors carry that signal, and the appetite-suppressing signal, was done in rats, not in people 3.

The D-phenylalanine substitution (one swapped-in amino acid) this family of analogues (modified versions of a natural molecule) carries makes them resist being broken down by enzymes in blood, which is why they act longer than natural alpha-MSH. That was shown for the parent analogue in frog skin and mouse melanoma cells, not in humans 2. How long melanotan-2 itself lasts in a person has never been measured: no human pharmacokinetic (how the body absorbs and clears a compound) study (a study of how a drug moves through the body and how fast it is cleared) has been published, and in mice, clearance from the blood after injection was rapid.

Evidence check

Very few human studies

Only a handful of small human studies exist. Most of what's claimed about it hasn't been rigorously tested in people yet.

Every numbered marker on this page links to one of the 19 sources at the bottom.

95/100

How Well It Tans

Increased skin colour in 2 of 3 healthy men in the only published tanning trial, measured both by a reflectance instrument and by eye, one week after 5 subcutaneous doses. No larger tanning trial has been published.

88/100

Sexual Function

Erections without any sexual stimulation in 17 of 20 men with erectile dysfunction across placebo-controlled crossover trials. In the psychogenic group, tip rigidity above 80% averaged 38.0 minutes versus 3.0 minutes on placebo (p=0.0045). Reported sexual desire rose after about 7 in 10 melanotan-2 doses (13 of 19, 68%) versus about 2 in 10 placebo doses (4 of 21, 19%).

85/100

How Long the Tan Lasts

In the only trial that measured how long colour lasts, increased pigmentation was still present in 2 of 3 men one week after dosing stopped. Persistence beyond that is community-reported and has not been measured in any published melanotan-2 trial.

What the research points to

  • Stimulates melanin (skin pigment) production for a natural-looking tan without extensive sun exposure
  • May reduce your risk of sun damage by requiring less UV exposure to maintain color
  • Shows remarkable effects on sexual arousal and libido in both men and women
  • Can help suppress appetite, potentially supporting weight management goals
  • Creates a longer-lasting tan that fades more slowly than a natural suntan
  • Works on all skin types, though results are most dramatic in lighter-skinned individuals

The most-asked question

How much Melanotan-2 do I take?

The research-reported range is 0.5 mg, once daily. Studies used different doses for different situations — find yours:

  1. Initial tolerance assessment, Skin tanning loading phase

    0.25 mg (250 mcg)

    • How often
      Once daily
    • For how long
      First 3-5 days (loading)
    • How
      Injection under the skin

Community-reported starting dose, not peer-reviewed. No clinical trial used a flat 0.25 mg dose. The published human trials dosed by body weight at 0.01-0.03 mg/kg subcutaneously (under the skin) in 3 healthy men 1. Mild nausea was reported at most dose levels in that trial, which is what starting low is commonly described as managing 1.

  2. Active tanning / pigmentation

    0.5 mg (500 mcg)

    • How often
      Once daily
    • For how long
Continue loading 7-14 days until desired pigmentation
    • How
      Injection under the skin

Community-reported loading dose, not peer-reviewed. The dose used in every published human trial was 0.025 mg/kg subcutaneously (under the skin), about 1.75 mg for a 70 kg adult, given to 3 healthy men 1 and to 20 men with erectile dysfunction 467. Subcutaneous is the only route with human trial evidence 1. In the phase-I trial, 0.03 mg/kg produced grade II drowsiness and fatigue in 1 of 2 men who reached that dose, which is why 0.025 mg/kg was the dose carried forward 1.

  3. Maintenance of tan

    0.5 mg (500 mcg)

    • How often
      2-3 times per week
    • For how long
      Ongoing maintenance
    • How
      Injection under the skin

Community-reported maintenance schedule, not peer-reviewed. No published trial tested a maintenance phase; the longest published human dosing was 10 subcutaneous (under the skin) doses over 2 weeks in 3 healthy men 1. A systemic-toxicity case followed a 6 mg self-injection, roughly three times the 0.025 mg/kg dose used in trials 9.

Adjusting your dose

You're at the right dose if…

  • Gradual, natural-looking tan development
  • Minimal nausea after the first few doses
  • Stable color that lasts between maintenance doses
  • No concerning changes to existing moles

Consider going up if…

  • You've used starting doses for a week with minimal side effects
  • You're not seeing color development after 2 weeks with some UV exposure
  • Your maintenance dose isn't holding your tan between doses

Go down if…

  • Nausea persists beyond the first week
  • Flushing is severe or uncomfortable
  • You're experiencing unwanted sexual side effects
  • New moles are appearing (consult dermatologist)

The ceiling: 500 mcg per dose (1 mg daily has been used in studies but offers no additional benefit and increases side effects)

Reconstitution, in plain words

How do I mix Melanotan-2?

Peptides usually arrive as a freeze-dried powder in a small vial. “Reconstitution” just means adding sterile water back in so you can measure a dose. Here's how it works for Melanotan-2:

What you need

  • Bacteriostatic water (BAC water)—the preservative allows multiple uses
  • Insulin syringes (29-31 gauge) for precise dosing
  • Alcohol swabs for sterilization
  • Your Melanotan-2 powder vial (typically 10mg)

A worked example

If you have a 10mg vial and add 2mL of BAC water, you get a concentration of 5mg/mL (or 5000mcg/mL). So every 0.1mL (10 units on an insulin syringe) equals 500mcg of MT-2.

Working out your dose

For a 250mcg dose at 5mg/mL concentration: draw 0.05mL (5 units on a standard insulin syringe). For 500mcg: draw 0.1mL (10 units). Many users add 2mL to a 10mg vial for easy math.

Or let the calculator do it

Three quick questions — your vial, your water, your dose — and it tells you the exact syringe mark. “Find dose amount” is preloaded with Melanotan-2's recorded schedule.

Injection sites & technique

Where do I inject Melanotan-2?

The best spots

  • Belly fat area (1-2 inches from belly button)—most popular site
  • Front or outer thigh (middle section)
  • Back of the upper arm (if you can reach)

How to do it, step by step

  • Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water
  • Clean the injection site with an alcohol swab and let it dry
  • Pinch about an inch of skin to create a fold
  • Insert the needle at a 45-90 degree angle
  • Inject slowly and steadily—rushing can increase nausea
  • Wait 5-10 seconds before removing the needle
  • Don't rub the site—just light pressure if needed

Subcutaneous (under the skin) injection (just under the skin)—this is the most common and effective method for MT-2

Timing

When do I take Melanotan-2?

Best time of day

Evening or before bed works best for most people. This helps you sleep through any initial nausea or flushing. The long half-life (33+ hours) means timing isn't critical for effectiveness.

With or without food?

Taking MT-2 on an empty stomach speeds absorption but may increase nausea. If nausea is an issue, try a light snack 30-60 minutes before. Once you're past the first week, food timing matters less.

Taking it with other peptides

If using with other peptides, inject at different sites. MT-2 is often the only peptide people use at bedtime due to the drowsiness it can cause. Don't combine with PT-141 on the same day—both affect the same receptors 19.

The honest list

What side effects could Melanotan-2 cause?

Common — usually mild

These show up most often. They usually fade as your body adjusts.

Less common

Worth knowing about, but most people never see these.

Serious — stop and get medical help

Rare, but if any of these happen, stop and contact a medical professional.

  • Priapism (prolonged erection)

An erection lasting more than 4 hours is a medical emergency. This is rare with MT-2 alone 10 but risk increases dramatically if combined with ED medications.

What to do NEVER combine MT-2 with Viagra, Cialis, or similar medications. If erection lasts more than 4 hours, seek emergency medical care immediately.

  • Concerning mole changes

While rare, any significant changes to moles—rapid growth, irregular borders, color changes, bleeding—require immediate attention.

What to do Stop MT-2 and see a dermatologist immediately. While MT-2 hasn't been proven to cause melanoma, stimulating melanocytes in someone with pre-existing abnormal cells is concerning.

Week by week

What should I expect from Melanotan-2, and when?

  1. Days 1-5

    You might notice
    • Facial flushing shortly after injection (very common)
    • Nausea that may last 30-60 minutes (common)
    • Feeling tired or drowsy (take at bedtime!)
    • Increased libido or spontaneous erections (men)
    • Little to no visible tan yet—melanin is building up
    What's normal
    • Flushing and nausea are common and usually decrease by day 5-7
    • Some people feel nothing at all initially
    • Existing freckles and moles may start darkening first
    What's next
    • Continue daily dosing during loading phase
    • Get brief UV exposure (10-15 min) every few days to activate melanin
    • Side effects typically improve significantly after the first week
  2. Weeks 1-2

    You might notice
    • Visible tan starting to develop, especially on sun-exposed areas
    • Moles and freckles noticeably darker
    • Side effects decreasing significantly
    • Enhanced libido effects becoming apparent
    • Possible slight appetite suppression
    What's normal
    • Tan develops gradually, not overnight
    • Different body areas may tan at different rates
    • Face and arms often show color first
    What's next
    • Continue daily dosing until you reach desired color
    • Regular brief UV exposure speeds results
    • Monitor moles for any concerning changes
  3. Weeks 3-4 and beyond

    You might notice
    • Your tan reaching its peak depth
    • Very minimal side effects at this point
    • Color appearing on areas that rarely get sun
    • Long-lasting tan that fades very slowly
    What's normal
    • You may have reached your genetic tanning potential
    • Side effects should be minimal or gone
    • Tan persists well between doses
    What's next
    • Switch to maintenance dosing (2-3 times per week)
    • Occasional UV exposure maintains color
    • Many users maintain year-round tan with just weekly doses

How to tell it's actually working

Tanning Response

  • Gradual darkening of skin, especially sun-exposed areas
  • Freckles and moles becoming darker
  • Tan developing faster than normal with UV exposure
  • Tan lasting longer and fading more slowly
  • Even areas that rarely get sun developing some color

Sexual Health Effects

  • Increased libido or sexual interest
  • Improved erectile response (men)
  • Enhanced arousal (women)
  • Spontaneous erections (men)—indicates the peptide is active

Other Effects

  • Reduced appetite (common side effect that some find beneficial)
  • Decreased side effects over time (shows adaptation)
  • Consistent results with maintenance dosing

Not seeing anything? The usual reasons

  • Not getting any UV exposure—MT-2 produces melanin but you need some UV to 'activate' it and see the tan
  • Degraded peptide from improper storage—check if solution is clear and properly refrigerated
  • Dose too low—some people need the full 500mcg to see results
  • Unrealistic expectations—MT-2 won't make you darker than your genetic potential allows
  • Not enough time—full results take 2-4 weeks of consistent loading
  • Poor quality peptide from unreliable source—always verify with third-party testing (COA)

Is it right for you?

Who should avoid Melanotan-2?

Do not use it if…

  • You have a personal or family history of melanoma—MT-2 stimulates melanocytes, and the effects on pre-existing abnormal cells are unknown
  • You have numerous atypical (dysplastic) moles—these need monitoring, not stimulation
  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding—effects on fetal development are unknown
  • You have severe heart conditions—MT-2 can temporarily raise blood pressure
  • You've had allergic reactions to peptides in the past
  • You have Addison's disease or other adrenal disorders

Be extra careful if…

  • You take blood pressure medications—MT-2 can affect cardiovascular function
  • You use erectile dysfunction drugs—combining with MT-2 may cause dangerous prolonged erections
  • You have many moles—get a baseline skin check first and monitor regularly
  • You have a history of priapism—MT-2 can trigger prolonged erections
  • You're taking immunosuppressant medications—effects on immune function are unclear
  • You have autoimmune skin conditions—response to increased pigmentation is unpredictable

When to stop

  • Any mole shows concerning changes (growth, irregular borders, color changes, bleeding)
  • You develop new moles that appear atypical or concerning
  • Nausea or flushing remains severe beyond the first week
  • You experience priapism or prolonged erection
  • Any signs of allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, significant swelling)
  • You've achieved your desired tan and completed your cycle

Melanotan-2 is not FDA approved and is considered a research compound. The long-term effects on skin cancer risk are not definitively known. Regular dermatological monitoring is essential for anyone using MT-2. This information is educational only—consult a healthcare provider before use.

What it mixes badly (and well) with

Medications

  • Avoid
Erectile dysfunction drugs (Viagra, Cialis, Levitra)

NEVER combine—serious risk of priapism (dangerous prolonged erection). Wait at least 24-48 hours between MT-2 and ED medications.

  • Avoid
    Blood pressure medications

MT-2 can temporarily affect blood pressure. Monitor BP closely and inform your doctor about MT-2 use.

  • Avoid
    Antidepressants (SSRIs)

Potential for interaction affecting sexual side effects. Use with caution and monitor your response.

  • OK together
    Antihistamines

Some antihistamines may help with nausea and flushing. Generally safe to combine.

Other peptides

  • Avoid
    PT-141 (Bremelanotide)

Both act on melanocortin (a hormone system controlling pigment and appetite) receptors (docking sites on cells that respond to the body's pigment hormone). Don't use on the same day—effects may compound unpredictably. PT-141 is more targeted for sexual function.

  • OK together
    BPC-157

No known interaction. Can be used together safely for general wellness benefits. Inject at different sites.

  • OK together
    GHK-Cu

Safe combination. GHK-Cu supports skin health through different mechanisms, complementing MT-2's tanning effects.

  • Check first
    Growth hormone peptides

Generally safe to combine. Separate injection times by at least 30 minutes.

Supplements

  • OK together
    Vitamin D

Safe and potentially beneficial. Vitamin D supports skin health and you'll need less sun exposure with MT-2.

  • OK together
    Antioxidants (Vitamin C, E)

Safe to combine. May offer additional skin protection.

  • OK together
    Tyrosine

Tyrosine is a building block of melanin (the skin pigment). Some believe it enhances MT-2 results, though this isn't proven. Safe to take together.

  • OK together
    Ginger or anti-nausea supplements

Can help manage MT-2-induced nausea during the loading phase.

Who it tends to suit

Fair-Skinned Individuals Who Struggle to Tan

If you're the type who burns before you bronze, MT-2 can be a game-changer. It works by telling your skin cells to produce more melanin—the pigment that creates a tan. 1317 People who normally can't tan often see the most dramatic results.

Those Wanting to Reduce Sun Exposure

MT-2 means you need far less UV exposure to develop and maintain a tan. A few minutes of sun or a brief tanning bed session goes much further. This could potentially reduce your cumulative UV damage over time.

Year-Round Tan Maintenance

Unlike a natural tan that fades quickly, MT-2 tans last longer and can be maintained year-round with minimal upkeep. Many users find they can keep their summer color through winter with just weekly maintenance doses.

Those Experiencing Low Libido

MT-2 has significant effects on sexual arousal and function in both men and women. 1813 While PT-141 is more targeted for this purpose, 10 some users appreciate getting tanning and libido benefits from one peptide.

The safety picture overall

Human safety data for melanotan-2 comes from small trials totalling about 23 men, plus a handful of published case reports. In the phase-I study of 3 healthy men, mild nausea was reported at most dose levels, and the 0.03 mg/kg dose caused grade II drowsiness and fatigue in 1 of the 2 men who reached it — which is why 0.025 mg/kg was the dose carried forward 1. Across 20 men with erectile dysfunction given 0.025 mg/kg, severe nausea occurred in about 1 in 8 (12.9%) 4. In the psychogenic erectile-dysfunction trial, nausea, stretching and yawning, and reduced appetite were each more common on melanotan-2 than on placebo, though none required treatment 6. Beyond the trials, single case reports describe rhabdomyolysis (muscle breakdown that can injure the kidneys) after a 6 mg injection 9, ischaemic priapism needing surgery 10, melanoma in a 20-year-old woman who used it alongside sunbeds 8, and mucosal melanoma in a 22-year-old woman who used a nasal spray version 11. A case report shows that something happened in one person; it cannot show how often it happens.

Melanotan-2 was developed at the University of Arizona 23. The published human evidence is small: a phase-I study in 3 healthy men 1 and erectile-dysfunction crossover trials totalling 20 men 467. No published trial dosed for longer than two weeks 1. No human pharmacokinetic (how the body absorbs and clears a compound) study was located — searches across PubMed, the full PubChem record and ClinicalTrials.gov returned melanotan-2 data only in rats, mice and rabbits, with human pharmacokinetics available only for the related peptide melanotan-1. One registered phase 2 trial, testing it alongside narrowband UV-B light for vitiligo, began recruiting in February 2026 and has posted no results 12. Long-term skin-cancer risk has never been tested in a trial; what exists on that question is case reports 811.

Keeping it good

How do I store Melanotan-2?

Before mixing (powder)

Store your MT-2 powder in the refrigerator (36-46°F / 2-8°C) for up to 12 months or in the freezer (-4°F / -20°C) for up to 2 years. Keep in original sealed vial away from light. The powder is quite stable when stored properly.

After mixing (liquid)

Refrigerate at 36-46°F (2-8°C) immediately after mixing. Never freeze reconstituted MT-2—it will be destroyed. Keep away from light and use within 28-30 days for best potency.

Signs it has gone bad

  • Cloudy or hazy solution (should be crystal clear)
  • Visible particles or floaters in the solution
  • Any color change—solution should be colorless
  • Reduced effectiveness (if your tan is fading faster than usual)

What the studies actually found about Melanotan-2

1996

Evaluation of melanotan-II, a superpotent cyclic melanotropic peptide, in a pilot phase-I clinical study

Small early human study (phase I): melanotan-II injected under the skin caused measurable tanning in healthy male volunteers after only 5 low doses (every other day). Skin darkened on the face, upper body and buttocks. 0.025 mg/kg/day was recommended for later phase-I work. This confirms that MT-II can cause tanning in people without UV light.

2000

Melanocortin receptor agonists, penile erection, and sexual motivation: human studies with Melanotan II

Combined human results from 20 men with erectile dysfunction (psychogenic, meaning mind-related, or organic, meaning physical cause), given melanotan-II as an injection under the skin in double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover studies (neither patients nor researchers knew who got the drug, and each man tried both drug and placebo). Erections occurred in 17 of the 20 men without any sexual stimulation, with an average of 41 minutes of recorded tip rigidity above 80%. Increased sexual desire was reported after 13 of 19 melanotan-II doses (68%) versus 4 of 21 placebo doses (19%) (p<0.01, meaning very unlikely to be chance). At the 0.025 mg/kg dose, severe nausea occurred in 12.9% of subjects.

1999

Participation of the melanocortin-1 receptor in the UV control of pigmentation

Laboratory work in cultured human melanocytes (pigment-making skin cells): switching on the melanocortin-1 receptor raises cyclic AMP inside the cell, which is the main signal that starts melanin production. Treating human melanocytes with alpha-MSH increased eumelanin, the darker pigment. This is the receptor pathway melanotan-II acts on, though this study tested alpha-MSH and ultraviolet light rather than melanotan-II itself.

Synthetic melanotropic peptide initiates erections in men with psychogenic erectile dysfunction: double-blind, placebo controlled crossover study

Double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover trial in 10 men with erectile dysfunction with no known physical cause. Clearly visible erections developed in 8 of the 10 men. The average time with tip rigidity above 80% was 38.0 minutes on melanotan-II versus 3.0 minutes on placebo (p=0.0045). Nausea, stretching and yawning, and decreased appetite were reported more often on melanotan-II than on placebo, but none needed treatment. The dose was 0.025 mg/kg injected under the skin.

Melanoma associated with the use of melanotan-II

Case report: a 20-year-old woman (Fitzpatrick type II, a fair skin type) developed skin melanoma (a serious skin cancer), confirmed under the microscope. Her use of MT-II together with tanning-bed exposure coincided with the cancer developing. It is one of several published reports of melanoma or sudden crops of unusual moles (eruptive atypical nevi) during use of tanning-hormone peptides.

2012

Melanotan II injection resulting in systemic toxicity and rhabdomyolysis

Case report of one 39-year-old man: a 6 mg self-injection under the skin was followed by sympathomimetic toxicity (overstimulation of the body's fight-or-flight system; heart rate peaking at 146 beats per minute), rhabdomyolysis (muscle breakdown that can damage the kidneys) with creatine kinase (a muscle-damage blood marker) rising to 17,773 IU/L, and kidney dysfunction (creatinine 2.25 mg/dL), requiring a three-day intensive-care stay. The report describes this as six times the starting dose the patient believed was recommended, and it is roughly three times the 0.025 mg/kg dose used in the clinical trials (about 1.75 mg for a 70 kg adult). Mass spectrometry (a lab test that identifies a chemical) confirmed the injected substance was melanotan-II.

Your questions

Melanotan-2 FAQ

Do I still need sun exposure with Melanotan-2?

Yes, but much less than normal. MT-2 increases melanin production, but some UV exposure helps 'activate' and darken the melanin. Most users find 10-20 minutes of sun or a short tanning bed session every few days is enough. The good news is you're getting tan with far less UV exposure than traditional tanning.

Will MT-2 work on very fair skin that normally burns?

Actually, this is where MT-2 shines most dramatically. People with fair skin who normally burn before they tan often see the most impressive results. MT-2 helps your skin produce the protective melanin that you'd normally struggle to make. However, you're still increasing your genetic melanin capacity—you won't become as dark as someone with naturally dark skin.

Is the tan from MT-2 different from a natural tan?

The tan is real melanin, just like a natural tan. 13 However, MT-2 tans tend to have a slightly different hue—some describe it as a bit more 'warm' or 'golden.' The tan also lasts much longer than a natural tan because your skin is actively maintaining higher melanin levels, not just responding to UV damage.

Why does MT-2 cause nausea and how can I reduce it?

MT-2 activates receptors throughout your body, including in areas that affect nausea. 14 The good news: it almost always improves after the first week as your body adjusts. Tips to reduce it: start with lower doses (100-150mcg), inject before bed, take with a light snack, and stay hydrated. Ginger supplements can help too.

Can women use Melanotan-2?

Absolutely. MT-2 works the same way for both sexes when it comes to tanning. Women may experience enhanced libido as a side effect, similar to men. 1813 The main considerations are the same: avoid during pregnancy/breastfeeding 13 and monitor moles regularly.

Will my existing moles become dangerous?

MT-2 will darken existing moles and freckles—that's expected. 1613 There's no conclusive evidence that MT-2 causes melanoma, but the honest answer is we don't know the long-term effects. 158 Anyone using MT-2 should get a baseline skin check before starting and regular follow-ups. Stop immediately if any mole changes shape, size, or color in concerning ways.

How long does an MT-2 tan last?

Much longer than a natural tan. With maintenance dosing (once or twice weekly), many users maintain their tan year-round. If you stop completely, the tan will gradually fade over 1-2 months, but this is slower than a natural tan fading because your body has genuinely increased melanin production.

Can I use MT-2 with self-tanner?

Yes, you can combine them. MT-2 creates real melanin (a biological tan), while self-tanners create surface color (DHA reacting with dead skin cells). 17 Some people use self-tanner while waiting for MT-2 to kick in during the loading phase. Just be aware that moles darkened by MT-2 won't be covered by self-tanner.
